The Fisheye Cultural Exchange

Blantant plugs for good things produced by our friends;

Matching Head apart from being home to unsung UK noise hero Culver also produces some rather spiffing cassettes. The latest batch I received included a Neil Campbell solo release, a Culver\Hagstrom collab., EtcEtera/Truck Stop Women split tape and Simon DD’s cd/d/b tape. Also, if there are any left, the Culver debut LP ‘Route of Aesthetic’ came out a few months back. A great example of abrasive drone and minimal clatter, something midway between Surface of the Earth and Total. Matching Head, 12 Coanwood Way, Sunniside, Tyne and Wear, NE16 5XR

One of the few really exceptional fanzines coming out of the UK right now is DDDddd. A monthly produced "Drink Fanzine" that stands on no particular fence as far as music goes, apart from their main claim "We like pop". It’s passionately written, the articles often ramble and rant as they’re typed straight off the cuff. They’ll write about anything from Barry White to Culver without a hint of bias. No ego trips in here. Issues tend to appear about once a month, it’s a photocopied on a budget affair. So you get about twenty pages of cut and pasted A4 stapled together and bound with masking tape. It is essentially free but a stamp (an IRC or 2 for non-UK residents) and a contribution/donation of some kind would be warmly received.
