Cotswold Driveabout The Northern Cotswolds
Written and illustrated by Peter Reardon, compiled from an extremely popular
series of "Guess Where" sketches which appeared in local newspapers. This best
selling guide to the Cotswolds has sold in 10's of thousands over the years,
regularly revised and kept up to date in description and drawing, it describes the
Cotswolds to the visitor and local alike in such away that even if you have lived in
the Cotswolds all your life it will still show you a hidden secret or two, be it a head
of a crocodile from which a spring gushes forth, lost Roman roads, medieval leper
chute, Victorian follies, or twentieth century oddities this book covers it!.
The insides of the DRIVEABOUT books may look and feel slightly different from
other guides. This is due to the way they are produced. Cotswold Driveabouts use
the old letterpress or block printing method where every letter in the text is a
separate item, cast from hot metal into blocks of text, the drawings and maps you
see are individually acid etched into metal, to print in a way similar to how books
used to be produced in this country since the days of Caxton. With these guides
you haven't just purchased an excellent guide to the Cotswolds but also a small
piece of history and a souvenir of a dying art.
