Friendly Match vs Petplan, 15th May 2005, London Fields

London Fields 205-8 (35 overs) beat Petplan 87 all out by 138 runs, 15th May 2005

by our illustrious Vice Captain, Andy "Scoop" Wyatt

A glorious summer's day saw the debut appearance of Petplan, made up of employees from the pet insurance company of the same name. They hope to Winalot, making plenty of new Pals and Chums along the way. OK, I'll stop now. (You certainly will - Ed)

Fields won the toss and decided to bat. All our batsmen played some nice shots and then got out, other than Vince who was the top scorer with 41 not out and made sure he was there at the end to prevent any embarrassing collapses.

Petplan suffered from a lack of match practice rather than talent, and this showed markedly in their batting. Wickets tumbled, with Colin Black and debutant Dave Crowther both taking three. As they had turned up with just 9 players, Jason Lord kindly helped them out in the field and then scored a rapid 39 before being stumped by Mark Nuttall off the bowling of Dave Hickey.

This put Dave on a hat-trick, but who was this appearing at the crease for the opposition? None other than Jason Trisley, who negotiated that ball well before clouting one lovely boundary. Lets hope we see him on the Fields again soon, and playing for us...
