League Match vs The Village, 14th May 2005, London Fields

London Fields 115-2 (17 overs) beat Village 111 all out by 8 wkts, 14th May 2005

by our illustrious Vice Captain, Andy "Scoop" Wyatt

London Fields got back on the winning trail with a comfortable victory over Village.

Fields were asked to bowl, and Paul Turley showed why he has an end named in his honour, with just three runs hit off his five overs, as well as taking two wickets. Rick Derons bowled tidily at the other end for 27-2.

On a better day we should then have skittled out a side with little batting depth for a very low total. However, some wayward bowling, including 30 extras, allowed the Village to climb to a final score of 111.

In reply, Andy Wyatt opened up the batting at a good clip, but Dave Hickey at the other end failed to score. He was soon replaced by Jason Lord (17 not out) who together with Andy took us near to our victory target Andy then attempted to reach his half-century by launching a full-toss over the trees, but unfortunately hit it straight up in the air. He departed, his 46 having contained 11 boundaries.

Enter Divan Vermeulen to blast 21 in a handful of deliveries and the match was wrapped up in the 17th over.
