Project on hold awaiting funding Project OutlineThe main aim of the project is to provide additional help with our work amongst children and young people so that we can develop the work in these areas. The subsidiary aim is to free up time for the minister, as he is likely to be taking on an additional pastorate, by the worker taking on some general administrative duties. Hours of WorkThe timetable is based on a thirty-five hour week but it is anticipated that during term time a few additional hours may be required over and above the timetable, principally in the form of occasional evening meetings. This will be compensated for by a long weekend of Friday to Monday inclusive at each half term holiday. The sample timetable is based on school terms. During holidays additional administrative and centre management duties will replace the children's clubs. If the worker is required to work at a weekend then additional time off in lieu will be given. Length of Service & HolidaysIdeally we would like the worker to start in early September and finish after the annual playscheme in the middle of the next August. The worker would be entitled to a 10 day breaks at both Christmas and Easter as well as a weekend break in each of the terms. Sample Timetable (schoolterms)
The timetable may be varied in the light of experience and to better use a particular volunteer's gifts, talents and expertise. Typically the administration element will include staffing the centre, producing publicity, operating the tuckshop, correspondence, liason with other youth workers and training. Management & SupervisionThe worker will report to the minister as their line manager. For some work sessions the volunteer will have the volunteer workers their supervisor. In a case of dispute with their line manager the worker will have the right of appeal to the elders meeting. TrainingThe workerr may be required to attend a basic first aid course and a basic food hygiene course as well as other occasional training sessions. AccommodationThe church will assist the worker to find their own accommodation SalaryThe worker will be paid £140 per week Person SpecificationGender and nationality are unimportant but a good command of English is essential. An evangelical Christian with a heart for the social implications of the gospel would be ideal. On a practical level a worker must get on easily with people of ages and abilities, be a good timekeeper, a hard worker and be flexible in their approach to the job. Musical, artistic and computer skills would be a bonus but are not essential.
