A new purpose built 1/8th Oval Raceway is being built at Thorpe By Elmbridge Model Club
Elmbridge Model Club is one of the largest model clubs in the UK, with over 180 members. It is based in Surrey and owns two plots of land, a large site at Ripley which is currently used for radio controlled aircraft and a lake near Thorpe for radio controlled boats and now 1/8th oval racing. EMC also has access to Coley Hill, which is a slope soaring site near Reigate and 2 control lines circles at Fairmile. The site at Thorpe is the main site, and this is were the new Oval raceway is being built as part of Elmbridge's car section
.The new Oval Raceway has ample parking for both racers and spectators, Pit area is hard standing so no pitting in the mud, Phase 1 is to lay the Track, build a Rostrum and Race control, Phase 2 will be to constructed covered bits, other improvements will also come on line in due course once racing is up and running
Dave (the rainmaster) Wirtzfeld wins at Sandown Model Show
To the amazement of those present and against all the odds, Dave wipes the floor with the opposition
A big thank you to Dave Wirtzfeld for not only transporting the track to Sandown, but all so storing it afterwards untill needed next time
