A trip through London
These were taken on the trip through London in the
company of Alec and Carol Bilney and their DUKW.
What goes on in those buildings?
Well, we spotted a riverside
pub and so up the river bank we went, parked up and enjoyed a
pint or two of good English beer. The pubgoers were rather surprised
to see us.
Travelling in style with an al-fresco
lunch aboard the DUKW as we follow the tide up the Thames through
London while enjoying the view.
Film Star
Shots taken during filming 'Battle Stations'
for the History Channel. These were taken at Hawley Lake near
Camberley, Surrey. The "GI's" were a group of re-enactment
enthusiasts who all have their own wardrobe of military uniforms.
Such a struggle with those authenticlooking

Going in, a pause while Dave

"Hit the Beaches"
This photo shows the tyre inflation system fitted to
DUKW's. The normal valve is removed and a hose connected between
the valve stem and a rotating seal fitted to the hub. From the
seal the armoured hose is taken through arms up to the hull. Inside
the hull the hose goes to a valve and then to the drivers station
where the tyre pressure can be adjusted to suit terrain. The air
gauge on the dashboard is calibrated to show settings for Sand,
Coral and Hiway driving.

The first DUKW is owned by Geoff Tait who travelled from Yorkshire
to attend.
With all these DUKW experts,
someone should tell Alec, astride the engine that you dont
have to pedal!
A lunch (and oil) stop at a Routiers Restaurant between

If your not in the DUKW then use it for some shade.

Military Vehicle rally was organised by the Wiltshire Group on
the Military Vehicle Trust
This
is James who came along and enjoyed his first day out with military
Vehicles.
Here's
James in the drivers position. Just by his right index finger
can be seen the lever and gauge used to adjust the tyre pressures.
Note the pressure guide stencilled on the inner side of the hull
advising on appropriate pressures.
