David Sylvian & Canada

Even in Vancouver B.C. Canada, it is hard to find David's media. I wish he would/could have done some shows in the Northwest as I am aware that he did some recording in Seattle, Washington. It is only a 3 hr. drive from Vancouver. I also would like to say that he remains the only artist on my very short list of "wants" for live appearances. I am a multi-intsrumentalist who remains inspired by all media he has been involved with.

I simply love everything David Sylvian records and cannot wait to hear the new album. This is the first I've heard of it; it is so hard to come by Sylvian records in Denmark. When I ask at the record shops in DK they simply say: "Who?", which is annoying.

re:Q and A session

i am really pleased to read such a recent interview with Sylvian, as he is not exactly mr publicity. also i was happy to finally hear something about the new album and single. i knew they existed but was none the wiser about style or content.

the other thing that pleased me was the "idea" of a tour, sorry to be such a pessimist but i will believe it when i see the tour dates advertised. however if the tour does go ahead i would be interested to hear from other UK fans as my other(not better)half is not a fan!
anyway,bye, roll on january

Dead Bees On A Cake

thanks to paul @ lenin for this interview!

i had the privelege to listen to a pre-tape of the album and can subscribe to the "rumors" that this album is a positive album. although i am not a big fan of the instrumentation, mr. sylvian chose for his album. in my humble opinion, it is a little bit too mellow.

but believe me, there are still a couple of highlights which we can listen to extensivly once the album is released.

BTW: one question remained open: why did sylvian chose this title for the album???

The First Day

What a pleasant surprise to find this interview! However, I would be interested to know if there was any follow up to the seemingly dismissive comments about "The First Day". Perhaps I am misinterpreting the tone, but Sylvian seems almost sorry that the album exists in his catalogue. If that is accurate, I am most disappointed, as I really enjoy the work he and Fripp did.

Nightporter

As I'm listening your "Nightporter"(and, yes,it's night)it's bringing me lots of those dear, dear optimistic 80's with those NEW ROMANTIC's walk of life. Now I'm at early thirty's,but somehow I'm still there and I allways will be. Thank you for a marking an whole age, many lives(including mine)and thank you for not forgeting your being artist, being musician.

Sylvian: The unwilling exhibitionist?

It does seem true and more than accurate the man, artist usually delivers an original record thoughtful soundscape. David's influence on me and my work has become apparent in european press--more than I'd like to compare. I see a reluctance in him that I thought was my own , but a flattering likelihood that I'm very much aware of . Like all of his fans, I'm glad to know his work is continuing -their are few musicians of original calibre.

And what is up with the new album's title? Keeps us guessing?

He's lucky I'm not interviewing him.

David Sylvian

Hello from denmark. Thanks for a nice interview with mr. excitement himself. It was lovely to read that Sylvian's new record has a R & B feel. Isn't it just what we need ? A Sylvian with Mariah Carey sound. Use alot of makeup and dye your hair again, then we love you. Thanks from

the reluctant star

Interesting interview. I've not heard any of the new stuff yet, so look forward to getting the single, (probably)complete with another track from the forthcoming album on the B-side (instead of an otherwise unavailable piece, which would be better value). Did you all notice that the interview ended rather abruptly when the Biography was mentioned? He should be flattered, the book is quite reverential. Perhaps he genuinely hasn't seen it. Anyway, I'll look forward to the tour- DS hasn't disappointed yet when taking it on the road.
