We represent, and provide local support for the Navico Group (Simrad, B&G, etc.) and for Furuno; both being manufacturers of high quality electronic navigation equipment, whose ranges cover the biggest ships ever built, and who have with derived products for smaller vessels, with the latest technologies for navigationally-important features, for owners who demand long reliability, with continuing full effectiveness and fulfilment of purpose.
With feedback from customers using the entire comprehensive range which both manufacturers provide, we find that they are rarely disappointed, and so we continue to recommend and supply them (Let's face it - the last thing we need is to have to make return trips to vessels for warranty issues).
Chart plotters from both Simrad and Furuno use C-Map cartography, which is designed to give optimum clarity on LCD Colour displays, with real-time tidal stream arrows (also future-scrollable), as well as maximum chart-customisation possibilities, (rather than having the totally-pointless main design priority of emulating certain types of paper-based charts, when good electronic chart plotters can in any case be customised to give the chart any required appearance, i.e. any type of chart).

==============================================================================
Although for many years we concentrated on all-makes equipment installation and repair (which showed us which makes are reliable, and which are not), in the early 2000's, Simrad appointed us to be their Main Service Dealer, and this was followed by our appointment by Furuno, initially as Fishery Support Dealer, then as Main Dealer, with both manufacturers citing feedback from both commercial and private vessel clients on our logical and efficient approach to fault-finding, and high level of service and backup.
Hence we are agent for two of the mainstream manufacturers of reliable marine electronics, for commercial, fishery, and private vessel owners requiring equipment which will continue to fully perform all of it's designed functions:
SIMRAD & B&G - Jersey Main Dealer
We could not attempt to compete on price alone with internet mass-suppliers, who survive on very low margins and offer no local expertise or on-board warranty response, and who rely on their customers posting any "failures" back to them.
Instead we concentrate on supply and installation with proper commissioning and calibration, and hence full warranty validation, with rapid on-board warranty support, if needed.
We are not general chandlers, and we do not attempt to sell ropes, anchors, and waterproof jackets (even in retaliation to the hyper-chandlery concept, which has killed-off so many very useful small-harbour-based marine electronics businesses in Europe and the British and Irish Isles over the last 20 years), but we do have a very thorough, well-practiced, and qualified understanding of traditional navigation, both under sail and power, and, together with our necessary electronics background, we are therefore able to properly understand the function of electronic navigational equipment .
So, if you want:
Reliable equipment supplied, properly installed, properly tested and accurately commissioned, at a fair price, with fully validated warranty, together with manufacturer-stipulated tuition (or more comprehensive tuition on request), with ongoing notification of any available software updates, and if it should be needed, rapid on-board warranty and post-warranty response, then come to us.
Where required, e.g. for fishery and angling applications, or if you just want to keep your cruising history, we can provide conversion and transfer of waypoint, mark and track data, from most brands of GPS and Chart Plotting equipment being replaced or complemented.

Furuno Sole Agent for Jersey
Whilst the Navnet Vx2 range is continuing to be successful, it has now been complemented by the Navnet 3D range.
Building on the accuracy and reliability of Navnet Vx2, Navnet 3D's "Time Zero" seamless and instant pan, zoom and tilt technology, together with Furuno's 3D chart rendering, using cartography derived direct from Hydrographic Office data, and "Satellite PhotoFusion" integration of satellite photography for shallows (less than 7 metres below datum) and land areas, makes coastal, inshore, and shallow-water navigation in 3D genuinely easier than in 2D (although conventional overhead "flat" 2D view is also built-in).
With Furuno reliability taken into account, "grey plastic" competition pales into insignificance.
Fixed Displays for flush or bracket mounting are available in 8" and 12" (diagonal), and there is a Black Box system version with panel mount waterproof keyboard/trackpad, which uses separated display(s).
All systems are AIS plot ready, and have been purpose designed to use the NMEA 2000 protocol.
Ultra High Definition network Radar - 19" and 24" radomes, and 3.5', 4' and 6' open array radar scanners, which can be incorporated (or retro-added) are all ARPA-equipped as standard (30 targets max - heading sensor required).
Other options include network echo sounder and HF radio weatherfax receiver modules (+ Sirius weather receiver for the USA).
Example systems, prices include cartography:
8" 3D Chart Plotter. MFD8 Multifunction Colour 8" Display with GPS/WAAS antenna = £1795 delivered Jersey.
12" 3D Chart Plotter. MFD12 Multifunction Colour 12" display (as above), with GPS/WAAS antenna = £2495 delivered Jersey.

We continue to encompass the entire marine electrical and electronic sector, from battery charging and systems monitoring,
DC and AC power distribution, electromechanical equipment supply and overhaul (including alternators and advanced regulation, starter motors, electric winches, anchor windlasses, autopilot drives and bow/stern thrusters (including interfacing with autopilot for compass heading or head-to-wind maintenance on larger vessels), through to navigation, communication and weather-related electronics,
for inshore, offshore and trans-ocean customers.
Our engineers Steve and Phil combine their experience of over 50 years in marine electrical and electronics installation, fault diagnosis, servicing and repair. Together with regular manufacturer update courses, and continuous evaluation of equipment performance and reliability during normal local work and seatrials, as well as that gained during many tens of thousands of miles of bluewater and ocean crossing deliveries under sail and power, this has allowed us to acquire a locally-unique insight into various brands' reliability, and the installation requirements for fully-effective and continuous operation at sea.
We have been approached by many manufacturers to represent them and provide support, and we have been pleased to accept those manufacturers whose equipment we have experienced to be fit-for-purpose for offshore and ocean passage making, and consequently whose equipment doesn't require the presence of a service station in every coastal village on the planet (and the attendant planet-sized advertising budget). Our local customers also benefit from instant response backup if any problems occur with equipment we have supplied and installed (although very few of them ever have ever needed to take advantage that support, with most contacts received being for operational advice).
Our experience also empowers us to provide safe and effective installation, along with equally important proper commissioning and calibration, as well as fast and accurate fault tracing when needed.
All our new installations conform to European directives for vessels up to 24 metres:
Small Craft Electrical systems - Extra-low voltage DC installations: ISO 10133:2001.
Small Craft Electrical systems - Alternating current installations: ISO 13297:2001.
Shore power information - Due to the lack of respect for live and neutral polarity standardisation in some continental-European marina supplies, our shore power installations as standard are double pole fully-protected "non-polarised" systems, which makes "correct polarity" indicators redundant, and temporary polarity-reversing adaptors for shore cables redundant and unnecessary. In addition to double-pole overload and short-circuit protection, we incorporate 10mA sensitivity earth leakage trip protection (which is mandatory by EU regulation for galley and other exposed circuits) as standard for the entire vessel for 16 and 25 Amp systems, with separate 10mA earth leakage protection being provided for galley and exposed-area branch circuits in systems of 32 Amp and upwards.
Galvanic isolators are recommended for all marina-based craft with shore power systems, and are considered essential for metal-hulled craft (or better still - an isolation transformer, such as Mastervolt's Mass GI switch-mode isolation transformer - a lightweight at 6kg).

A polite notice to our local customers:
We value all our customers, and we would like nothing better than to have all local boats' electrical and electronic equipment repaired/overhauled/rewired/supplied/installed/updated/tested/calibrated/sea trialled, before the good weather starts.
Those of our customers who check their boats' equipment regularly, plan in advance for new additions or equipment upgrading during the Winter, or who notify us of known repair issues promptly, whatever the time of year, will get them done in good time, and in the autumn and early winter will receive favourable pricing for new equipment.
These customers, along with our other year-round customers such as fishing and other small commercial vessels, are our "Class A" customers, who keep us busy during the Autumn and Winter months. When their saved phone numbers flag up on our mobile phones, their calls are answered at all times of the year, and any breakdowns are promptly attended to, or requests for less urgent work logged and booked in for fixed dates.
So please remember - Advance planning treats us better, so we can treat you better, with vastly shorter lead times when booked in advance for execution between October and February.
For those who still haven't got it - if you wait until that moment in March or April when the sun shines for the odd day, before finally testing your vessel's equipment and contacting us for what you imagine will be attention within a few days - by then you will be joining a long queue!
When that sunny few days finally arrives, the phone suddenly starts ringing between 20 to 50 times a day, leaving us the choice either of answering the calls and thereby losing significant productivity, or to let the phone go to message box and keep our noses to the grindstone, so we do the latter. Those who do leave messages are normally contacted after working hours, so as not to slow down jobs in progress during the working day.
For those who inevitably advise that we should employ a secretary - yes maybe we should - but our hourly rate would have to increase significantly to cover the wage.
Therefore no change to the message - think about it, and book it in NOW for the 2008/9 Autumn/Winter REFIT Season, and thereby become a Class A customer!
We would rather be overstretched in Autumn and Winter, rather than in our naturally-occurring peak season of Spring and Summer, when we will often have to decline requests for routine work and new installations which could have been done in autumn/winter.
We recognise that genuine breakdowns are unavoidable, but few breakdowns are genuine, with most being "out of mothballs failures". For this reason, don't leave re-commissioning until "silly season", thereby having to join a long queue!
We would like to explain to those who have still not understood, that we do not go into cryogenic suspension during the Autumn and Winter months (i.e. we don't hang ourselves up on the back of the door along with our summer tee shirts, waiting for your phone call in our high season). SO BOOK IT IN NOW.
