SURREY V GLAMORGAN at the AMP Oval (C&G4), 19 JUNE 2002

Glamorgan's problems lie in their batting.  Only once this season have they passed 200 in limited-overs cricket.  After eight one-day games, their leading run-maker is David Hemp with 174 at an average of 21.75.  Just two other batsmen - Steve James and Michael Powell - have made half centuries.  So, unless tomorrow's match turns out to be a low-scoring affair, the home side appear to hold all the aces.

With the ball Mike Kasprowicz, Adrian Dale and Andrew Davies have been economical, but only the latter has picked up wickets with any degree of regularity in limited-overs cricket this year.

Surrey have won their last three one-day encounters with Glamorgan at The Oval and with the Welshmen likely to be missing their captain Steve James the visitors will need to up their game significantly.  That said, round four of this competition is normally the one that Surrey have most difficultly with.  It should be a Surrey win, but today I thought the Italians would beat South Korea in the World Cup!

Mark Butcher, Alec Stewart and Graham Thorpe are all struggling to be fit.  Furthermore, Saqlain Mushtaq is said to be experiencing problems with an elbow, so the only change to last Sunday's line-up at Southampton is likely to be Alex Tudor for one of the seamers - probably Ed Giddins.

R Croft (capt), D Hemp, M Maynard, A Dale, M Powell, D Thomas, J Hughes, M Wallace (wk), A Wharf, M Kasprowicz and A Davies.
