SURREY V KENT at the AMP Oval (CC1), 12-15 JUNE 2002
How many more times can these two sides draw? If the
weather holds for once - it hasn't in the last four Surrey-Kent clashes - there
is a good chance this time.
Kent have drafted James Tredwell into their squad in
anticipation of a turning pitch at the AMP Oval, but it's hard to see who they
will drop in order to accommodate him. The inspirational Matthew Fleming
has had better years than the season he has enjoyed so far. Matthew Walker
is averaging only 12.16 with the bat in the championship, but was arguably
Kent's best batsman in the same fixture last year. Lastly, the eminently
hit-able Amjad Khan continues to take wickets, which makes him difficult to
discard.

Kent's line-up appears full of runs with Robert Key the pick, but their ability
to bowl sides out depends on one man - Martin Saggers. If Surrey can blunt
the threat posed by the former Durham man, then they should win what promises to
be a hard fought contest.

Adam Hollioake is back in training and Ed Giddins has been added to the XI that
played at Old Trafford, but no changes are expected to the team that played safe
in Manchester.

D Fulton, R Key, E Smith, A Symonds, M Walker, P Nixon (capt), M Ealham, M
Fleming (capt), M Patel, M Saggers and A Khan.
