Reform Bill processions continued throughout the 19th century. The aim was to extend the vote to all men. (Significant protest for female suffrage followed in the twentieth century.) Later marchers often carried banners and symbols from earlier protests showing a continuity with the protestors of the past. How has the artist managed to illustrate this sense of continuity across the eight panels of the mural? The beehives were carried as a symbol of labour. In 1884 the vote was extended to include agricultural workers.
