We welcome guests, and children 10 years and over, to our home set in a lovely garden in the beautiful, quiet village of Broadwell with its village green and ford, just 1.5 miles from Stow-on-the-Wold and 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh. The secluded front garden is available for guests' use.  The Fox Inn is within walking distance (but do bring a torch for the return journey!) and many hotels and restaurants are within 3 miles for evening meals.

We are a No Smoking house.

We are centrally situated for visiting all the Cotswold villages:  Bourton-on-the-Water with Birdland, Model Village, Motor Museum and the Perfumery, Stow-on-the-Wold with its Square and numerous Antique shops, Guiting Power and the Cotswold Farm Park (farmed by Adam Henson, presenter on BBC Countryfile), Burford and the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Chedworth and the Roman Villa, Winchcombe, Lower Slaughter, Broadway, Chipping Campden and Hidcote Manor Gardens, Snowshill Manor and the Snowshill Lavender Farm, Bibury, Moreton-in-Marsh with Batsford Arboretum and Falconry Centre and Dalesford Organic Farm Shop (as found in Harvey Nicholls & Selfridges in London) - while Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Gloucester and the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway at Toddington are all within 30 miles. We are 3 miles from the Longborough Festival Opera held annually during June and July.

                         - half a mile off the A429

If you do not have a car we are not suitable accommodation for you, as there is very little public transport; you need to stay in Moreton-in-Marsh or Stow-on-the-Wold.


 

ACCOMMODATION comprises:  on the first floor a Twin-bedded room and a double room (the Long Room), both en-suite (with walk-in shower), and a ground floor double room with private bathroom (bath with shower) The Long Room can be used as a second twin room, but only when the twin-bedded room is already booked. All rooms have tea / coffee making facilities and biscuits, radio / clock alarms, hairdryer, two armchairs and, to add to your comfort, electric blankets for those colder nights and fans for the hotter summer days.  There is Freeview TV in the Long Room and the Twin-bedded room, colour TV in the Double room. Bed time drinks - ovaltine, horlicks, drinking chocolate - and biscuits are provided (free).

Full English breakfast of fruit juice (orange or apple) / grapefruit / prunes / choice of cereals / yogurt / cheese / bacon / egg / sausage (local butcher) / tomato / fried bread, or smoked haddock or scrambled egg with smoked salmon / toast / choice of marmalade, jams, honey, marmite.   

Tea or coffee - decaffeinated tea and coffee available.  

Special diets can be provided if requested at the time of booking.

Breakfast is served from 8.30 am to 9 am.

SINGLE OCCUPANCY:
Where one person occupies a double room there is a surcharge of 60% on the single rate. (Bank Holidays, June, July, August and Cheltenham Festival - surcharge 75% on single rate). You can only book a double room on line - for a single occupancy room please telephone to make the room booking.

BANK HOLIDAYS:   No single night bookings are accepted for Bank Holidays.

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL - MARCH 2011:
GBP  85 to 90 per room per night

ADVANCE BOOKINGS:
When booking by phone or e-mail a non-refundable deposit of the cost of the first night's accommodation is required with written confirmation.  Payment upon arrival should be made by cash or cheque, payable to Mrs. F.J. Adams (with bankers card).  I cannot accept debit or credit cards directly, but guests can book online via Eviivo using card payments.

CAR PARKING:
There is off-road parking for 3 cars - (one car per room).   A car is essential.     It should be noted that we are 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and 1.5 miles from Stow-on-the-Wold, and are, therefore, not suitable accommodation for those travelling by train, or without a car.  You need to stay in Moreton-in-Marsh or Stow-on-the-Wold.

CHECK-IN time is from 4:30 pm (or earlier by telephone arrangement only). However it would be appreciated if you could give an estimated time of arrival.
When overnight bookings are made by telephone for which no deposit has been received, rooms must be claimed by 6 pm.

HOLIDAY INSURANCE:
An application form for World First Travel Insurance will be sent with our letter of confirmation, or can be taken out online.  You are responsible for full payment of cancelled accommodation.  You are strongly advised to take out insurance to cover the cost of your holiday.

TERMINATION OF BOOKING:
We reserve the right to terminate the booking, without liability for any refund or compensation, should guests arrive requiring wheelchair access or with pets, or smoke in the house.

DIRECTIONS:

From Stow-on-the-Wold:
Take A429 towards Moreton-in-Marsh. Ignore the first right turn to Broadwell as you leave Stow. About 1 mile further, turn RIGHT to Broadwell at the Broadwell/Donnington crossroad. Aston House is the first house on the left, half a mile from the main road.

From Chipping Norton:
Take A44 from Chipping Norton. Turn LEFT on to A436 to Stow-on-the-Wold. About 3 miles turn RIGHT to Broadwell, soon after passing the left turn to Lower Oddington. Go straight through Broadwell and through the ford - Aston House is directly ahead - but do take care crossing at the sharp left corner (look left) and crossing Kennel Lane (look right, and left!).

Aston House is 1.5 miles from Stow-on-the-Wold and 4 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh.

There are 3 marked parking bays in the secluded front garden. The surface is tarmac, level and flat.

There are three 2 inch high x 2 foot wide steps from the parking area to the front door. These steps have white painted edging.

There is a 5 inch high ledge to step over at the front door entrance.

The outer front door and porch is unlocked, but the inner front door is always locked. There is a door bell.

The ground floor is carpeted throughout and is level.

There is a light in the entrance hall which is kept on 24 hours; there is an emergency light in the hall, on the landing and in each bedroom should there be a power failure.

Breakfast is served in the downstairs dining room. There are no steps and it is carpeted.

The chairs do not have arms and are 18 inches high; the tables are 29 inches high.

There is one ground floor bedroom with a private bathroom for your own exclusive use (across the corridor); both are carpeted. The 4 foot 6 inch double bed is 24 inches high and has a firm, comfortable pocket sprung mattress.

The bath is 19 inches high and has two inbuilt hand rails, integral shower and wall mounted hand rail.

The wash basin is 30 inches high, the toilet 17 inches high and there is a bidet. Taps are lever operated.

There are two rooms on the first floor, which can be reached by stair lift.

There are three stairs 7 & three quarters inches height and 9 & half inches depth to a small landing 33 & half inches square to get to the stair lift.

There are a further 11 stairs of the same size to the first floor landing.

The first floor is on the level and carpeted, as are the two bedrooms and bathrooms. There is an emergency light should there be a power failure.

The Long room has a 4 foot 6 inch double bed (25 inches high) and a 3 foot single bed (23 inches high), so can be used as a second twin room (when the twin room is already booked). Both beds have firm, comfortable pocket sprung mattresses.

The shower in the Long room has a 5 inch step/ledge into it, and a maximum opening of 21 inches. The washbasin is 30 inches high and the toilet 16 inches.  The taps are lever operated.

The Twin room has two 3 foot beds (25 inches high) with firm, comfortable pocket sprung mattresses.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE HOUSE / ROOMS ARE  NOT  SUITABLE FOR WHEELCHAIRS.
