We got our Premier Division campaign off to a flying start with an excellent victory at Eastleigh, after a productive second half. Henry Darko put us ahead in the 17th minute and then ensured that we held the interval lead with his second goal in the 43rd minute. Martin Grant increased our advantage in the 57th minute, before Eastleigh pulled a goal back in the 70th minute. Any hopes they had of further progress were firmly dashed when Henry Darko completed his hat trick in the 90th minute to complete a totally deserved opening day success for the team.

Wednesday 22nd August 2007 - Suburban League Premier Division
Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 1 Met Police 1
After taking the lead early in the second half, we were eventually forced to settle for a point against a resolute Met Police side. Ross Kitteridge was soon called into the action, saving Esueosa Omereges left sided shot from outside the area in the 13th minute. We countered instantly with Jones Bamfos mazy run ending with a shot from 30 yards out which flew just wide of the left hand post a minute later. Further pressure led to Jordan Samuels teasing cross from the left being pushed on to the far post by Nicky Pegler in the 31st minute. We made the vital breakthrough in the 53rd minute, when a run from Jones Bamfo opened up the Mets defence, which saw Martin Grant hit home a low shot in the confusion.
Richard Thompson struck a shot on the turn, prompting keeper Nick Pegler into pushing the ball away for a corner kick in the 57th minute. Ross Kitteridge came to our rescue in the 68th minute, as he tipped Michael Parmas close range shot over the crossbar. From the resulting corner kick, the ball fell to Esueosa Omerege, who knocked the ball home from close range.
The Mets were denied in the 76th minute, when Michael Parma ended his right sided run with a shot which was saved by Ross Kitteridge. As we pushed forward in search of the winning goal, Michael Corbett sent over a cross from the left which was sliced over his own crossbar by defender Dunne in the 86th minute, We had a narrow escape in the 89th minute, when Paul Burnells 30 yard drive skimmed our crossbar, before flying to safety. Another valuable result, as we keep our early momentum going.

Martin Grant's hat trick paved the way for another fine team display, as we extended our unbeaten start to the season. Martin struck first in the 24th minute to give us the lead, before Uxbridge levelled the score in the 33rd minute. We took control of the game in the early stages of the second half with further goals from Martin in the 51st and 54th minutes. Uxbridge pulled a goal back in the 71st minute, without changing the balance of the game. We had a late scare after Michael Corbett was stretchered off. Fortunately no bones were broken, an examination at St Helier Hospital revealed damaged ligaments, leaving Michael on the sidelines for the forseeable future.

Wednesday 29th August 2007 - Suburban League Premier Division
AFC Wimbledon Reserves 2 Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 3
We produced a stunning team performance to earn a richly deserved victory over AFC, who included four first teamers in their starting line up, together with Marcus Gayle, the former Wimbledon, Watford and Rangers star on the bench. Ross Kitteridge was soon called into action, as he pushed out Richard Butlers shot from inside the area in the 14th minute. We shook our hosts by taking the lead in the 18th minute, when Richard Thompson hit a shot on the turn past the AFC rearguard. AFC drew level from the penalty spot in the 34th minute. Karl Beckford converting the spot kick, following Dan Gurneys push on a home forward.
We fell behind in the 39th minute, when a left sided move ended with Steve Tyson firing home a low shot. Eben Allens 25 yard drive was saved by keeper Elliott Ranson, as we kept up the pressure on the home goal. Karl Beckfords shot from outside the area was pushed out by Ross Kitteridge in the 47th minute. We levelled the score in the 50th minute, after a right sided throw in reached Jones Bamfo, whose back header flew over the bemused home keeper into the back of the net. On the hour, Ross Kitteridge produced another fine save to halt Steve Goddards shot from inside the area.
Our winning goal came in the 80th minute, after a slickly worked right sided move. Dorian Smiths through pass split the home defence, enabling Jones Bamfo to run on and play the ball out to Daryl Swaby, whose pinpoint cross was turned in at the near post by Eben Allen. AFC countered with Marcus Gayle setting up Steve Gilbert, whose close range shot was blocked by the agile Ross Kitteridge , ensuring that we emerged as worthy winners.

We continued our impressive start to the season with a deserved victory over Hillingdon Borough. Martin Grant put us into the lead in the 2nd minute, before our hosts levelled the score in the 11th minute. Richard Thompson restored our advantage in the 23rd minute. We maintained our hold on the match as Martin Grant scored further goals in the 65th and 72nd minutes to complete his hat trick. Hillingdon pulled a goal back in the 77th minute, only for Eben Allen to restore our three goal lead with his 82nd minute strike.

Another polished team performance earned us the league points against Fleet Town at Imperial Fields. Matt Kidson put us ahead in the 44th minute, ensuring that we held the half time lead, before two further goals in the second half confirmed our control of the match. Oliver Hunt scored our second goal in the 48th minute. Fleet reduced the arrears in the 57th minute, before Jordan Samuel sealed victory in the 67th minute.

Tuesday 18th September 2007 - Suburban League Premier Division
Burgess Hill Town Reserves 3 Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 4
We produced what will rank as one of our performances of the season as we came from behind to defeat a strong Burgess Hill Town side at Leylands Park. The home side started strongly with a chipped shot from the edge of the area from Charlie Monaghan rising just over the crossbar in the 11th minute. A right sided cross found Ryan Bradley, whose goalbound header was pushed away to safety by Jamie Henley in the 20th minute. Jamie foiled Bradley again in the 23rd minute, as he pushed out his right sided shot.
We took the lead in the 27th minute, when a corner kick from the right was met by Eben Allen, whose header struck the right hand post, before Matt Kidson reacted smartly to fire the ball in from close range. Burgess Hill countered with Tom Lyons ending his run from the right with a shot which hit the crossbar, before rebounding into Jamie Henley's arms. Eben Allen's low shot from the edge of the area was blocked on the goal line by keeper Aaron Stenning in the 31st minute. Jamie Henley, our youth team keeper making his debut for the reserves, continued to impress, making another timely save to block Jiri Donhal's 30 yard drive in the 42nd minute.
Burgess Hill hit back to level the score in the 48th minute. A right sided corner kick was only cleared to the edge of the area, where Mark Pulling was positioned and he struck a low shot into the corner of the net. We went behind in the 54th minute, after a quick break down the right flank ended with Charlie Monaghan hitting home his shot. We dug deep and equalised in the 68th minute, after winning a corner kick on the right. Danie Hogan flighted his deceptively inswinging flag kick into the area, where it curled in at the near post, despite the efforts of a home defender to hook it off the line. Further pressure on the home goal led to our third goal in the 76th minute. Martin Dynan's throw in from the left was flicked on by Eben Allen to Martin Grant, who curled his shot wide of keeper Stenning into the far corner of the net.
Back came Burgess Hill in search of an equaliser, only to be foiled again by Jamie Henley, who got down well to push out Charlie Monaghan's low right sided shot in the 82nd minute. From the resulting corner kick, Paul Clark rose to head the Hillians back into the game. We weren't about to settle for a point and launched further pressure on the home rearguard. Eben Allen's byline shot from the left was parried by keeper Stenning, before he managed to block Martin Grant's follow up shot in the 87th minute. We clinched victory in the 93rd minute, after Daniel Hogan's right sided corner kick was only cleared as far as Jones Bamfo, who struck a shot through a crowded goalmouth into the back of the net to earn us a memorable victory.

Saturday 22nd September 2007 - Suburban League Cup

A winning goal three minutes from time ended our interest in the league cup this season, as local rivals Sutton United progressed through to the second round. Sutton took the lead in the first minute. We matched our rivals thereafter and drew level 80th minute, Martin Grant was on target with his tenth goal of the season so far. Any thoughts we had of taking the game into extra time ended when Sutton scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 87th minute to seal victory.

Saturday 29th September 2007 - Suburban League Premier Division
Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 1 Wealdstone Reserves 1
A spirited fightback earned us a share of the league points against Wealdstone at Imperial Fields. We went behind in the 14th minute and despite further chances for both sides during the remainder of the first half, the score stayed in favour of the Stones at half time. Team Manager Steve Lang's interval talk got us fired up again and we quickly levelled the score, when Martin Grant scored in the 50th minute. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to make the vital breakthrough needed to secure victory, but we still remain unbeaten in the league after our impressive start.

Saturday 6th October 2007 - Suburban League Premier Division
Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 4 Beaconsfield SYCOB Reserves 0
The reserves recorded a good 4-0 victory over Beaconsfield but the game was much closer than the scoreline suggests, with keeper Sonny Jostins making several important saves. We opened the scoring in the 9th minute when Ferguson rifled home after a fine solo run. We went 2-0 up in the 20th minute when Daryl Swaby latched on to a through ball to score.
In the 65th minute we made it 3-0 when Daryl Swaby headed in a cross from Mo Karaye and we completed the scoring in the 88th minute when Martin Grant scored from close range.

Despite establishing a three goal lead we eventually slipped to a narrow defeat after extra time. With no keeper available, Daryl Swaby went in goal and produced several fine saves at key points in the match. We took the lead in the 3rd minute, when Martin Grant struck a precise chipped shot from 25 yards out on the right, over the home keeper and into the back of the net. Daniel Gurney's cross from the left was met by Martin Grant, whose header struck the crossbar in the 13th minute. Martin Grant increased our lead in the 27th minute, with his glancing back header from a left sided cross. Five minutes later, Jordan Samuel stunned our hosts with his left sided free kick which flew over the stranded keeper for our third goal.
AFC pulled a goal back in the 68th minute, when Ryan Luffman headed in a free kick from the right. Michael Kyere's right sided run led to James Danaher hitting in a close range shot in the 76th minute. As AFC pushed to level the score, Daryl Swaby pushed out a left sided free kick from Matt Farrell in the 90th minute. A minute later, a free kick from the left was floated into the area, enabling Michael Kyere to equalise with his diving header.
Ryan Luffman scored the winning goal for AFC in the 93rd minute with a low left sided shot. Luffman was denied his hat trick in the 112th minute, after his turn and shot from inside the area produced another fine save from Daryl Swaby, who tipped the ball over the crossbar to safety. To lose our hold on the Surrey Premier Cup so early in the competition was a bitter blow to face, the team spirit shown will see us bounce back without delay.

Monday 15th October 2007 - Suburban League Premier Division
Sutton United Reserves 0 Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 0
We gained a deserved share of the points after a team performance full of character to draw with Sutton United at Gander Green Lane. Jordan Samuel produced a mazy run as he cut in from the left, before hitting a shot which struck the left hand post in the 4th minute. The woodwork came to Sutton's rescue again in the 15th minute, when Jordan Samuel's free kick struck the left hand post.
Further pressure led to Martin Grant's shot being pushed away for a corner kick in the 39th minute by keeper Gareth Williams, before Martin was foiled again, when his 42nd minute shot was cleared off the goal line. A left sided break from Martin Grant saw him place his shot wide of the keeper, only for the ball to hit the right hand post and rebound back into the grateful keeper's arms in the 75th minute. Keeper Chris Sinclair produced a string of fine reflex saves to deny Sutton the opportunity to snatch a late victory, as we quickly got Saturday's cup defeat out of our system.

We extended our unbeaten league run with a comfortable victory over Burnham. Damien Matthews put us ahead in the 6th minute, before Martin Grant increased our lead in the 17th minute. Martin Grant added to his impressive scoring record, when he scored twice during a four minute spell in the second half with goals in the 62nd and 65th minutes. This being Martin's third hat trick of the season so far. Daryl Swaby completed the scoring with our fifth goal in the 86th minute, as we achieved our fifth away win of the season.

Saturday 3rd November 2007 - London Intermediate Cup 1st Round

Another assured team performance saw us progress through to the second round of the competition. Troy Ferguson scored a cracking goal to give us the lead in the 17th minute. Martin Grant added to our lead four minutes later. Daryl Swaby confirmed our advantage with our third goal in the 37th minute. Martin Grant continued his rich scoring vein with further goals in the 71st and 80th minutes, to record his fourth hat trick of the season. Reece Smith-Millar scored our sixth goal in the 84th minute, before Tony Cusse completed the scoring in the 90th minute.

We maintained our impressive away form to record our sixth victory on the road so far at Harefield. The winning goal coming from Cedric Kabomgo in the 52nd minute. The result ensures that we keep up the sustained pressure on AFC Wimbledon in our quest to secure the Premier Division title.

We slipped to our first league defeat of the season after a below par performance against local rivals Carshalton Athletic. Our cause was not helped by the early loss of key midfielder Jones Bamfo, who went off injured in the fourth minute. We fell behind in the 28th minute. Carshalton added a second goal in the 59th minute to secure victory. We retained our second position in the table, with our only consolation being that leaders AFc Wimbledon also suffered a rare defeat.

We returned to our winning ways with a fine all round team performance. Whyteleafe were denied by the woodwork in the 7th minute, when a close range shot from Steve Scott struck the post. We soon slipped into gear and took the lead in the 16th minute, when Mohammed Karaye played a pinpoint pass in from the right to Martin Grant, who struck a majestic volley into the right hand corner of the net. Captain Ricki Faulkner, in his 100th reserve game, was in inspired form as we looked in complete control. Dorian Smith struck a low drive from 30 yards out which home keeper Gavin Dilley needed to push out to safety in the 41st minute. A minute later, we had a quick break down the left flank, which ended with Martin Grant hitting his shot just wide of the left hand post.
Whyteleafe drew level on the hour, after a cross from the right was knocked in at close range by Adrian Butler. Martin Grant went close with a 25 yard chipped shot which dipped just over the crossbar in the 66th minute. Jordan Samuel struck a left sided drive which keeper Dilley needed to push away to concede a corner kick in the 69th minute. Jordan himself took the flag kick, which was met by Daryl Swaby, whose powerful header soared into the back of the net. We put the result beyond doubt in the 85th minute, when Daryl Swaby played the ball on to Martin Grant, who ran on before striking his shot past keeper Dilley for our third goal. Martin was denied his hat trick in the 89th minute after collecting a pass from Jordan Samuel on the left and hitting a shot which Gavin Dilley tipped over the crossbar.

Another confident league performance earned us our eighth away league victory of the season so far, against Hayes & Yeading at Beaconsfield Road. Early pressure on the home defence sood paid dividends when we were awarded a spot kick in the 19th minute. Martin Grant converted the spot kick for his 23rd goal of the season to reinforce his prospects of being called up into the first team squad in the near future.

Saturday 8th December 2007 -London Intermediate Cup

Our return to the London Intermediate Cup after an absence of several seasons has proved to be a success as we overcame a spirited Corinthian-Casuals side to progress through to the semi-finals. Michael Corbett was making a welcome return to the starting line up after recovering from the ligament injury he sustained earlier in the season. Our winning goal came in the 35th minute and was a cracker. Cedric Kabomgo bending his free kick from fully 25 yards out past a surprised Casuals keeper into the back of the net. Victory sees us facing Metrogas in the semi final.

Saturday 15th December 2007 -Suburban League Premier Division
Met Police Reserves 2 Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 2
A stirring second half fight back saw us earn a deseved point to see us go top of the Premier Division table at the Christmas break. The Met took the lead in the 22nd minute, before adding a second goal in the 43rd minute to establish a half time lead.
Steve Lang's men weren't about to allow our hosts to cruise to an easy victory and reduced the advantage through Jordan Samuel in the 55th minute. Further pressure on the home goal led to Jones Bamfo, on his return from injury scoring the equalising goal in the 78th minute, to ensure that our impressive start to the season reaches new heights.

We started the new year in fine style, recording a convincing victory to maintain our position at the head of the table. Troy Ferguson put us ahead in the 34th minute, before Ashford equalised in the final minute of the first half. We regained the lead in the 52nd minute, when Jorden Samuel was on target. Dorian Smith scored our third goal in the 90th minute to ensure we maintain our impressive away form with our ninth victory on our travels.

Wednesday 9th January 2008 -Suburban League Challenge Shield
Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 0 Merstham Reserves 1
Despite enjoying the majority of the play, we ended our opening match in our group of the challenge shield with nothing to show for our efforts. Early play saw Dorian Smith play the ball in from the left to Martin Grant, who struck a right sided shot into the side netting in the 7th minute. Merstham scored what proved to be the only goal in the 20th minute, when Rhod Davis resisted the challenges of our defenders before sending a low byline pass over to Ross Ognibene, who scored from close range.
Jordan Samuel was narrowly off target with a left sided drive from 25 yards out, which curled just wide of the left hand post in the 38th minute. Chris Sinclair made a timely save to tip Jon Dale's left sided shot away to safety in the 41st minute. Two minutes later, Martin Grant saw his shot from the edge of the area dip just over the crossbar. we continued to apply pressure on the Merstham rearguard as we strived to level the score, with Martin Dynan's left sided pass setting up Dorian Smith, whose shot flashed just wide of the left hand post in the 67th minute. Merstham were denied a second goal in the 82nd minute, when James Cameron's right sided shot was deflected away by Chris Sinclair. Our final chance of snatching an equaliser came in the 85th minute, when Cedric Kabomgo played played the ball through to Daryl Swaby, whose right sided shot flew just wide of the right hand post.
Our remaining group matches against Horsham YMCA and East Grinstead give us ample opportunity to qualify through to the next stage of the Shield.

Saturday 19th January 2008 -Suburban League Premier Division
Carshalton Athletic Reserves 1 Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves 0
Our impressive unbeaten away record came to an end after a narrow defeat in our top of the table fixture at Carshalton Athletic. The match saw both sides cancel out each others efforts out until midway through the second half. The dismissal of Jordan Samuel in the 69th minute put us at a disadvantage which Carshalton were quick to exploit, scoring a minute later. Despite our best efforts to force an equalising goal, we were unable to draw level. Carshalton go above us to head the table, although they have played two more games than ourselves, ensuring a closely fought second half of the season.

A stoppage time equaliser saw our hopes of qualifying for the next stage of the Challenge Shield fade. Manager Steve Lang took the opportunity to give several of our promising youth team players a run out, with Thiernor Dialio in particular giving an assured and competent display in the centre of defence. We had the better of the early exchanges with Alex Laurent's through pass from the left enabling Martin Grant to run on and hit a shot which struck the left hand post in the 12th minute. Daniel Gurney's left sided cross found Martin Grant, whose close range shot was blocked by keeper Ken Westoby in the 22nd minute.
YMCA went close two minutes later when a right sided corner kick was met by Ali Russell, whose close range header flew just over the crossbar. We took the lead in the 37th minute, when Daryl Swaby's pass from the right was taken in his stride by Martin Grant, before he dispatched a low shot into the left hand corner of the net. Daryl nearly got on the score sheet himself after a break down the right saw him turn sharply to wrongfoot the home defence, before seeing his goalbound shot pushed out for a corner kick by keeper Westoby in the 41st minute. Chris Sinclair produced a timely save to palm Leon Tighe's left sided shot away in the 58th minute.
Anthony Wall produced a swift turn before striking a shot which was saved by keeper Westoby as we kept up the pressure on the home goal. Nick Meta's right sided pass to Daryl Swaby saw him turn and fire a shot which struck the left hand post with the keeper beaten in the 70th minute. All our hard work was undone when we failed to defend a right sided free kick in the 92nd minute, enabling Kristian Harding to knock the ball in from close range.

We maintained our strong challenge for the Suburban League title with a clear cut victory over Harefield United at Imperial Fields. The game marked the first step back to fitness for Vernon Francis who played for the first hour as he eased his way back after his long layofff. We went ahead in the 25th minute after being awarded a penalty kick which was converted by Martin Grant. Martin was on target again in the 85th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

Three goals in the opening twenty five minutes paved the way for our first win in our group of the shield to boost our chances of progress into the quarter finals. Jordan Samuel sent over a corner kick from the left which was met by Martin Grant, whose near post flick was tipped over the crossbar by the home keeper in the 7th minute. Once again Jordan Samuel flighted another precise kick over to the far post, where Shubiah Linton rose to head us into the lead. A minute later we increased our advantage, when Dan Gurney's left sided free kick was deftly flicked by Reece Smith-Millar beyond the reach of the home keeper into the back of the net.
Tony Cusse's through pass split the home defence enabling Jordan Samuel to advance on a left sided run before hitting a shot which flew just wide of the right hand post in the 18th minute. Our third goal came in the 25th minute, when Martin Grant sent over a cross from the right, allowing Reece Smith-Millar to get in a close range header which was blocked by the keeper, before Troy Ferguson struck home the loose ball from close range. Our hosts started the second half intent on reducing the arrears and were foiled in the 48th minute, after a move down the centre of the pitch saw Grant Rigler hit a shot from inside the area which was tipped away by Chris Sinclair to safety.
Their pressure eventually saw them pull a goal back from the penalty spot after a challenge by Chris Sinclair on Scott Johnston. Grant Rigler's spot kick went in off the right hand post in the 64th minute. Chris Sinclair continued to thwart East Grinstead's efforts to haul themselves back into the game with a fine save to halt Zac De Cambre's left sided shot in the 65th minute. Grant Rigler scored their second goal in the 73rd minute after his powerful run down the right, prior to hitting his shot which went in off the left hand post.
We retained the upper hand and re-established our two goal lead in the 76th minute, when Shubiah Linton struck a left sided free kick from outside the area which flew into the back of the net, giving the keeper no chance. A deserved victory after a fine allround team performance.

We remained on the heels of leaders Carshalton Athletic after a deserved home victory over Hillingdon Borough. Vernon Francis continued on the road to full recovery, playing for the first hour of play without feeling any ill effects. After a goal less first half, the game alive in the 61st minute, when Cedric Kabomgo put us ahead. Cedric increased our advantage in the 79th minute. Hillingdon pulled a goal back in the 88th minute, but their fightback came too late to prevent the league points remaining at Imperial Fields.

A thrilling closing seven minutes saw us grab a winning goal to go top of the Suburban League table as we overcame Wealdstone at Ruislip Manor. As the previous Saturday, the match remained goal less until the second half, when Martin Grant gave us the lead in the 55th minute. Wealdstone drew level in the 83rd minute, but we were not about to let victory slip and retook the lead just two minutes later through Daryl Swaby to overtake Carshalton as league leaders.

Despite taking an early lead we slipped to a narrow defeat which thwarted our chances of a place in the quarter finals. Straight from the kick off, we raced onto the attack with Daniel McIntosh's strong run down the right flank ending with his shot being parried away for a corner kick by keeper Ken Westoby. We went ahead in the 15th minute following a left sided free kick which was floated over by Jordan Samuel. In the ensuing scramble a grounded Vernon Francis stuck out a leg to hook the ball into the left hand corner of the net.
Our lead was only to last for three minutes before Horsham YMCA levelled the score, after a pass from the right was knocked in at the near post by Greg Palmer. Our visitors continued to look dangerous on the break with Tom Lyons running on to a through pass before advancing on goal and hitting a shot to draw a fine save from Chris Sinclair in the 32nd minute. YMCA went ahead in the 42nd minute when Tom Lyons ran in from the left before hitting a low drive into the far corner of the net.
Our efforts to fight our way back into the match saw Daniel McIntosh play the ball on to Martin Grant, who struck a dipping shot from 30 yards out which flew just wide of the left hand post in the 79th minute. Tom Lyons remained a constant threat from YMCA, with his 82nd minute shot on the turn prompting a diving save from Chris Sinclair to repel the danger. As the match went into stoppage time, we mounted a left sided move which saw Reece Smith-Millar play the ball on to Jones Bamfo, whose shot was cleared off the goal line to earn us a corner kick.

We opened up a seven point lead at the head of the Suburban League table after recording our eleventh away victory of the season at Fleet Town. Martin Grant put us ahead in the 18th minute, with Daryl Swaby adding to our lead three minutes later. Martin was on target again for our third goal in the 31st minute. Fleet pulled a goal back in the 41st minute. The second half continued in the same vein with Daryl Swaby scoring in the 48th and 65th minutes to complete an impressive hat trick.

After causing numerous problems for the home defence during a goal less first half our young side containing seven players who started the season in the youth team slipped to defeat against an experienced Merstham side, with the final scoreline giving no indication of the closeness of the match. We started brightly with Martin Grant running on to a loose ball and hitting a low shot from the left which flashed just wide of the right hand post in the 8th minute. Martin went close again in the 20th minute, with a drive from 30 yards out which flew just wide of the left hand post. Daniel Azzopardi played the ball in from the left to Dan Mason, whose shot on the turn went just wide of the left hand post in the 37th minute.
A minute later, Merstham saw their only on target shot of the half saved by Liam Lockwood who spread himself well to block Danny Ross's close range shot with his legs. Daryl Swaby turned smartly striking a shot which flew just wide of the left hand post in the 43rd minute as we continued to take the game to our hosts. Merstham went ahead in the 58th minute, when a left sided corner kick was cleared out as far as John Dale, who struck a chipped shot from 35 yards out, which dipped under the crossbar. On the hour, they extended their lead, when James Cameron hit home a low left sided shot. A slick right sided move saw Leon Wallace send over a pass from the right to Ryan Fraser, who hit home a low shot to put the home side three up.
We continued to play in a positive style with Martin Grant collecting a pass from the left, before firing a shot from the edge of the area which was blocked by home keeper Dean Cupit in the 87th minute. Merstham scored their final goal in the 92nd minute, when Leon Wallace ran on to a pass from the right, before hitting a low shot home. Still we pressed forward with Daryl Swaby hitting a shot from inside the area which keeper Cupit needed to push away to concede a corner kick in the 94th minute. Forget the final scoreline, this was a performance which highlighted the considerable talent contained within both the reserve and youth lineup's giving justified optimism for the near future.

Our run in the London Intermediate Cup came to an end as we failed to rise to the occasion and fell at the semi-final hurdle against a talented Metrogas side. The match remained even for the majority of the first half, until our visitors took the lead in stoppage time. Metrogas increased their lead four minutes into the second half and withstood our efforts to get back into the game.

We rounded off our group matches in the challenge shield with a comfortable victory over East Grinstead at Imperial Fields. Daryl Swaby put us ahead in the 22nd minute as we held the upper hand during the early exchanges. Martin Grant ensured victory scoring twice in a five minute spell in the 61st and 66th minutes, enabling us to secure a safe winning margin.

Another composed team performance saw us retain top spot in the league with our twelth away success of the season so far at Uxbridge. We opened the scoring in the 31st minute, when Martin Grant struck his thirtieth goal of the current campaign. Daryl Swaby added our second goal ten minutes later, to establish a safe interval advantage. Uxbridge pulled a goal back in the 66th minute. Michael Antonio restored our two goal lead in the 80th minute, with his first goal at reserve team level. Nick Meta also scored his first club goal, when he completed our scoring in the 86th minute, as we continued to keep ourselves in a strong position to lift the Suburban League title.

After conceding an early goal, we fought back to obtain another valuble point in our quest to clinch the Suburban League title. Joe Vines was in the line up as he continued his comeback to full fitness. Burnham went ahead in the 7th minute and held the advantage until we drew level through Martin Grant in the 64th minute.

We returned from the Camrose ground will a fully deserved three points after a thrilling second half fight back. Basingstoke took the lead in the 10th minute, when Dave Cates ran on to a through pass down the middle, before chipping the ball over Chris Sinclair into the back of the net. Jordan Samuel's probing run through the middle led to the shot being saved by home keeper Chris Waller in the 23rd minute. Martin Grant struck a chipped shot from 35 yards out which flashed wide of the left hand post in the 36th minute. Two minutes later, Shubiah Linton curled a shot from fully 30 yards on the left which flew just wide of the far post.
Two goals in a minute transformed the match twenty minutes into the second half, which highlighted what an exciting talent Michael Antonio is. First, Michael won the ball in our half, before setting off on a determined run down the right flank, outpacing several defenders and crossing to Daryl Swaby, who netted from close range. Within a minute, Michael performed another burst down the right with another pinpoint cross which enabled Martin Grant to shoot us into the lead in the 66th minute. Basingstoke's attempts to force an equaliser were thwarted by Chris Sinclair, who pushed out James Rusby's left sided curled shot in the 68th minute. Our third goal came in the 92nd minute, when Daniel McIntosh intercepted a pass, before playing the ball on to Martin Grant who hit it home from close range for his 35th goal of the season so far, to complete a memorable performance.

Two goals in each half saw us home to another crucial victory as we continue to head the Suburban League table. Our opening goal came in the 14th minute, when a right sided pass was met by Daryl Swaby, who hit his shot past the advancing keeper into the right hand corner of the net. Daryl turned provider with a left sided pass to Michael Antonio, whose header struck the left hand post, before rebounding back into keeper Darren Lehks's grateful arms in the 26th minute.
Shubiah Linton struck a low drive from 30 yards out, which was deflected away for a corner kick on the half hour. Burgess Hill's best chance of the half fell to Devon McKenzie, whose close range shot was blocked by Chris Sinclair in the 37th minute. We extended our lead in the 42nd minute, when a right sided throw in found Daryl Swaby, who turned smartly and struck home a shot beyond the reach of the keeper into the back of the net. Martin Grant scored our third goal with a precise curled shot from out on the right, which flew into the far side of the goal in the 67th minute.
Daryl Swaby was felled by the keeper in the area, giving him the opportunity to complete his hat trick from the penalty spot, but Daryl saw his kick rise up and clip the crossbar in the 91st minute. We completed the scoring in the 89th minute, when Michael Antonio cut in from the right, before rounding the keeper to score our fourth goal to boost our impressive goals for tally, which could prove vital as the season heads for a thrilling climax.

Another commanding team display saw us record a clear cut victory to enhance our title hopes. We quickly got into our stride with Michael Antonio's run down the right flank leading to a cross which found Daryl Swaby, whose shot rose just over the crossbar in the 3rd minute. Daryl ran on to another right sided pass before striking a shot which was saved at the left hand post by keeper Nick Hancox in the 12th minute. Martin Grant cut in from the right, before hitting a shot which flew just wide of the right hand post in the 32nd minute. We took the lead in the final minute of the first half, when Vernon Francis's pinpoint through pass found Daryl Swaby, who struck a low shot into the right hand corner of the net.
Further pressure on the home goal saw Reece Smith-Millar hit a shot on the turn which was cleared off the goal line in the 50th minute. Daryl Swaby struck a shot from the left which was deflected just wide of the far post in the 54th minute. Daryl's through pass from the left set up our second goal in the 61st minute, when Martin Grant ran on before hitting his low shot in from the edge of the area. Our third goal came three minutes later, when Reece Smith-Millar's through pass beat the home offside trap, enabling Martin Grant to run on, before rounding the keeper to score.
Beaconsfield's efforts to reduce the arrears saw Assu McHabina hit a shot which struck the left hand post in the 71st minute. A minute later, they were awarded a penalty kick following a tackle by Shubiah Linton. Chris Sinclair produced a fine save, when he pushed away Dan Boateng's spot kick to ensure that we kept another clean sheet. Still we pressed forward with Dan Mason hitting a shot from inside the area which was deflected away for a corner kick in the 83rd minute.

We completed the double over Basingstoke Town just a fortnight after our victory at The Camrose to remain in control at the head of the table. The early breakthrough came in the 4th minute, when Shubiah Linton's cross from the right was met by Martin Grant, whose glancing header flew into the far corner of the net. Alex Karamath played the ball in from the left to Daryl Swaby, who turned and struck a shot from the edge of the area which was saved by keeper Chris Waller in the 19th minute. Basingstoke went close in the 26th minute following a left sided free kick, when Craig Smith rose to head the ball just over the crossbar. Jordan Samuel struck a low left sided drive from outside the area, which flashed just wide of the left hand post in the 37th minute.
Basingstoke countered with Sean Delfosse hitting a shot from outside the area which flew just wide of the left hand post in the following minute. Our visitor's task was made even harder after their captain Scott Perkins was sent off for his second bookable offence after fouling Michael Antonio in the 41st minute. We produced a clinical left sided move to end the half with Jordan Samuel playing the ball on to Daryl Swaby, who sent over a cross from the left which was met by Vernon Francis, whose diving header prompted a point blank save from keeper Chris Waller. Reece Smith-Millar struck a right sided drive from 30 yards out which the keeper managed to save at the second attempt in the 47th minute.
Vernon Francis and Mohammed Karaye combined on the right to create an opening for Daryl Swaby, whose shot from inside the area skimmed the left hand post in the 68th minute. Daryl Swaby turned swiftly to strike a left sided shot which was saved by Waller in the 71st minute, as we kept pushing forward in a positive manner right to the final whistle.

We snatched a late winner to keep up our championship bid on course against a plucky Whyteleafe side. Martin Dynan set up our opening goal with his pinpoint cross from the left, which allowed Michael Lambert to fire in his low shot in the 17th minute. Daryl Swaby was narrowly off target with his 30 yard left sided drive which flew just wide of the left hand post in the 36th minute. Whyteleafe levelled the score in the 68th minute, when Dean Eaton scored from close range following a pass from the right. Martin Grant turned and struck a shot from the left which was saved by keeper Gavin Dilley in the 75th minute.
As the minutes ticked by, we upped the tempo and went close when Reece Smith-Millar cut in from the right, striking a shot from the edge of the area to draw a save from keeper Gavin Dilley in the 86th minute. We finally sealed victory a minute later, when Daryl Swaby struck a shot from the left hand side of the area, which flew in at the near post, despite the best efforts of the keeper to parry the ball away. Whyteleafe were reduced to ten men after Leigh Douce was sent off for upending Daryl Swaby as he burst through on goal in the 90th minute.

Another vital point was secured as we edged closer to securing the Suburban League title. Our best chance of claiming victory came in the 75th minute, after we were awarded a penalty kick, only for keeper John Peacock to save Michael Antonios kick.

Wednesday 23rd April 2008 - Suburban League Premier Division

We clinched the Suburban League championship in style, beating the only sidewho could have stopped us from doing so. Jordan Samuel put us ahead in the 11th minute, when he cut in from the left and struck a low shot into the left hand corner of the net. Michael Antonio added to our lead in the 34th minute, after he ran on to a right sided pass and struck home his shot from inside the area.
Shubiah Lintons pass from the right set up Michael Antonio, who fired a low shot into the far corner of the net for our third goal in the 62nd minute. Martin Grant ran on to a through ball down the middle before slotting past the keeper in the 73rd minute, for his 40th goal of the season so far. Daryl Swaby completed the scoring in the 90th minute, when he cut in from the right flank, beating two defenders in the process, before hitting his shot into the right hand corner of the goal.
The final whistle saw joyous scenes as we were presented with the championship trophy by Chief Executive Mike Bidmead.

A second half fightback saw us emerge victorious against our local rivals Sutton United. We took the lead in the 15th minute, when Ricki Faulkner floated a free kick over from the right to be met by Dan Mason, whose header flew into the net.
Sutton equalised in the final minute of the first half, after a pass from the left was sidefooted on by Ross White. We were gifted our second goal, when the keepers clearance was struck straight to Daryl Swaby, who gratefully hit the ball into an empty net. We scored our third in the 61st minute, Michael Antonio found Dan Mason with his pass from the right, Dans shot struck a post, before Daryl Swaby struck home his follow up shot.
