Frozen Semen
We were approached in Summer 2003 by Lesley & Graeme Fairhall of Mzilakazi Kennels and Lyn & Gerry King of Ingwe Kennels after they had seen Milo on our website. They were interested in bringing in fresh bloodlines to Victoria, Australia and asked if they could investigate the possibility of us sending them some frozen semen. (We thought that a much easier option than the previous suggestion from another, well-known Australian RR breeder of sending Milo himself to her, however we couldn't bear to be parted from him !). Luckily, that same person had viewed Milo at very close hand and could testify to his attributes and temperament
Stuart and I, together with the help of some of the Sonstraal relatives, put a video together and sent that initially to Australia. Lesley & Lyn seemed happy with the "family" and all was a go !
We had a deadline of sorts - January 2004 - which seemed like a lifetime away. However, once we started getting things organised it seemed that it was not going to be as simple a process as it sounded.
We finally collected semen with the help of Jon Hunten (a specialist) and our vets to collect the precious drops on Christmas Eve ! They were frozen and finally shipped (with some Spinone "friends") and arrived in Victoria, Australia on Thursday 22 January.
